Let's First Understand How Hair Grows In A Cycle

1. Anagen (Growth) Phase: The hair follicle grows for two to six years.

2. Catagen (Transition) Phase: For one to two weeks the hair stops growing and the follicle shrinks and detaches from the skin.

3. Telogen (Resting) Phase: For five to six weeks, when the hair is released or falls out. During this phase, that hair follicle remains inactive, which means no new hair growth.

After the hair falls out, the follicle returns to the Anagen Phase and grows new hair, which starts the cycle again.

Due to several reasons, follicles shrink over time and produce shorter, and thinner hair with each cycle. Eventually, they stop producing altogether. This process is called miniaturization. This is what we call androgenic alopecia.

Wig Types

You’ve decided to purchase a hair system. Our first discussion will be to determine if you require a custom or stock piece.

Image

Stock

A stock hair system is a piece that is pre-made and virtually ready-to-wear once we have customized the styling to create your look.

  • Quick delivery and availability
  • Less costly
  • Consistent with density, colour, etc
  • Limited sizing availability
  • Colour limitations
  • Styling limitations
Image

Custom

Custom hair systems are custom made just for you. A mold is taken of your head and the piece is specifically manufactured for you.

  • Fit is perfect
  • Colour blended to your exact hair
  • Timeline is 12 weeks for manufacturing
  • Costs more than a stock piece; however, takes into consideration such things as cost for integration (cut-ins), colouring, etc.

    Methods of Attachment

Lets talk about attachment methods. Many of our clients wearing full systems require no attachment at all. A full wig or hairpiece is custom fitted for you, adjustments are done by our hair loss technicians to ensure the fit is secure giving you the confidence you need.

There are circumstances where the unit or the client may require attachment; or the client may simply request attachment due to lifestyle or preference. Our team of hair loss specialists are training to assist you in making the decision that works best for you and your lifestyle. This decision doesn’t have to be a commitment and can change with your lifestyle, for example heading on a vacation and want to SWIM, SLEEP and play in your unit we can customize the attachment for your trip.

As a full service hair replacement facility we offer both daily wear and extended wear and can customize the unit and attachment per client. Need more info? Check out the descriptions below on some of the methods.

    Tape

Tape is a popular option for daily and extended wear due to its ease of use. Double-sided and clear, it can be removed and reattached anytime. While tape may leave a sticky residue, we can remove it during your visit or guide you on proper removal at home. We offer various tapes to suit your needs and can ship them directly to you

    Liquid/Bonding Adhesive

Liquid adhesives, also known as bonding adhesives, are ideal for daily or extended wear. They’re typically used for semi-permanent hair systems, which should be removed by a trained technician. Understanding the application process, dry time, and proper usage is key to success. We offer a variety of liquid adhesives at our Centre and can ship if necessary.

    Clips

Clips can be sewn underneath a full or partial hair system and fastened to your existing hair to secure the hairpiece. Clips require very little hair to be attached to, they are easy to remove and easily adjustable as needed. We have many different clips on site and can ship them directly to you.

      Cap Construction

When purchasing a wig, one of the most important factors is the construction of the cap. The construction must fit your
needs, your wants and your lifestyle. Below you find a comparison chart to help you understand the differences.

      How Laser Therapy Works

Low Level Light Therapy improves the nutrient supply to hair follicles and improves the cellular-level metabolism. LLLT helps push the hair from Telogen to Anagen phase, prolonging the Anagen Phase. As a result – the miniaturization process is reversed. NOT only does more hair grow out of each follicle, but the density, thickness and quality of each hair strand are improved.

      Hair miniaturization causes
      hair to thin and eventually
      fall off

      Prevention

Dealing with hair loss or scalp concerns are emotional events and can lead to social concerns and confidence issues. The best time to act is immediately. As soon as you start to notice a change in your hair or scalp you should seek out a Trichologist or Dermatologist.

Trichology is the study of the hair and scalp and overlaps both the medical and cosmetic areas that are not normally covered by either a doctor or hairstylist. A Trichologist can help you address many concerns about your hair and scalp treatment.

      Learn more about Scalp Concerns.

We have a certified Trichologist on-site who can help you cope with the root cause of your hair loss concerns and clear up any misunderstandings. Taking action earlier can help slow down your hair’s deterioration and maintain what you have for a longer period of time. The longer you wait to find help, the faster your hair’s health will decline.

Our Trichologist uses the latest technology to explore your unique situation that allows you to see what the Trichologist sees, and visually guides you through treatment options. Your initial 15 min consultation is no charge.
